Connecting WhatsApp
Connect your own WhatsApp Business number. Konnie answers customers who message it, and every chat shows up in your Inbox.
Before you start
- A WhatsApp Business Account with a phone number added, in Meta Business Suite or WhatsApp Manager. The number normally cannot stay registered on the regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app at the same time.
- A Facebook login that can manage that business.
- Konnie only replies to people who message your number first. Nothing is sent to anyone who has not contacted you.
Open the connection screen
In your Konnectivo dashboard, go to Channels → Meta connections and open the WhatsApp tab. You will see two ways to connect. Pick the one that fits you.
Option 1: One click
The quickest way, using Meta's own sign-up window. No Meta developer account needed.
- Choose One click and press the connect button.
- Log in with Facebook when the Meta window opens.
- Pick your business, your WhatsApp Business Account and the phone number you want Konnie to use.
- Approve the permissions and finish. The window closes and the tab shows Connected.
If One click is not shown as ready on your account yet, use Option 2 instead.
Option 2: Use your own API
For businesses that already have their own Meta app. You will paste four things into Konnectivo: the app's ID and secret, an access token, and your WhatsApp Business Account ID.
- At developers.facebook.com, open your app (or create one with the Business type) and add the WhatsApp product.
- Under App settings → Basic, copy the App ID and App Secret.
- Create a long-lasting access token. In Meta Business settings → Users → System users, add a system user, assign your app and WhatsApp account, and generate a token with the
whatsapp_business_managementandwhatsapp_business_messagingpermissions. Copy it straight away. Meta only shows it once. - Copy your WhatsApp Business Account ID from WhatsApp Manager (or the WhatsApp product's API setup page).
- In Konnectivo, choose Use your own API, paste the App ID, App Secret, access token and Business Account ID, then pick your phone number from the list and connect.
Konnectivo checks the details with Meta before saving. Your token and secret are stored encrypted. They are never shown again.
Connect the webhook (if asked)
Konnectivo tries to set up message delivery for you. If the screen shows a Callback URL and Verify token, open your Meta app, go to WhatsApp → Configuration → Webhook, paste both, save, and subscribe to messages.
Confirm it worked
From a different phone, send a message to your WhatsApp Business number. Konnie should reply within seconds, and the conversation appears in Inbox. Press Take over there any time to reply yourself.
Good to know
- The 24-hour window. WhatsApp lets you send normal messages only within 24 hours of the customer's last message. After that only an approved template is allowed. See Follow-up message templates.
- Teach Konnie first. Konnie answers only from your knowledge base and catalog, so fill those in before you go live.
If something goes wrong
- "Meta rejected these credentials." The token expired or lacks a permission. Generate a new token with both WhatsApp permissions and try again.
- "Already connected to another account." That number is linked to another Konnectivo workspace. Disconnect it there first.
- Konnie does not reply. Check the tab shows Connected, the webhook is subscribed to messages, and your monthly AI replies have not run out (Usage).
